Friday Recap

This week had a lot of organizing to help me get going on my goals. I also think we found tenants for our rental unit, so that’s a bonus!

I did sign-up for another mystery shopping company like I mentioned in my post yesterday. The application process was simple, and I received an email today congratulating me on my acceptance into the program. I checked on some available shops in my area and am excited they’re for different kinds of shops than what I’ve done in the past. I also requalified myself with a past mystery shopper company that reuqires an updated background check every year. That was $15, but I understand they need to screen their applicants.

As for the rental unit, my hubs and I own a couple properties with apartments we rent. One is right next to a university, so we have a lot of students move out at the end of the year. We have been fortunate to have good tenants who have stayed a couple of years in a row. For this particular unit, there are 3 roommates, and two are moving out. The third guy thought he’d have to move until we gave him a “one month free” incentive for his portion of rent.  We wanted to convince him to stay and find himself some more roommates. It worked! It’s SO worth it to give an incentive sometimes to avoid a vacant apartment. Not to mention the time and money that goes into finding new tenants.

I’m going to take it easy this weekend, and I might plan a surprise date night with my hubs. He’s been working in this heat all week and needs a break.  We’ve been doing much better cooking at home instead of ordering in, but I don’t want to spend a ton of money. He loves going to restaurants, so maybe we’ll leave our oldest in charge and go for a drink and dessert. Gotta remember to make reservations in the morning!

Next week I’m going to look into revamping my work space at home – it’s a mess! I have some pretty file folders I got at Target, but I want a message board and notepad or planner to match. I’ve been using my daughter’s old spiral bound notebook from school, and it’s not very motivating for me.
